Winnie the Pooh - Nemesis of My Youth

A collection of the pieces I've made responding to unwarranted optimism of Pooh Bear and his friends.

Winnie the Pooh - Nemesis of My Youth
That bear was just too damned happy
As a pissy college art student, the mass marketing push that came after Disney acquired A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh really set me off. Pooh crap was everywhere. And that damned bear was SO infuriatingly ignorant of everything! These were the days before the Tao of Pooh and the Te of Piglet, so the Zen-like benignity of these vacuous characters was yet to be celebrated. Only Eyeore was properly weighed down by the ugly truth of reality, and for that, he was spared.
The one that started it all. '97 or '98.
Inspired by an insufferably cute line of baby toys featuring the Friends of the Hundred Acre Wood, I recast them as the Hundred Acre FIENDS when I returned to school in 2004.
Hundred Acre Fiend (Pooh).
Hundred Acre Fiend (Piglet).
Hundred Acre Fiend (Tigger). Note he wears Piglet's scalp.
